Privacy Policy
How IP Tester handles your data and protects your privacy.
Last updated: September 9, 2026
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how IP Tester ("we," "us," or "our") handles information when you visit our website. We are committed to being transparent about our data practices and protecting your privacy.
Information We Process
IP Address Processing
To provide our IP lookup functionality, your IP address is temporarily sent to third-party geolocation APIs (ipapi.co and ipwho.is). These services return approximate geographic and network information associated with your IP. We do not store your IP address or the lookup results on our servers.
Server Logs
Our web hosting may record standard access logs that include IP addresses, browser user agent strings, requested URLs, and timestamps. These logs are used for security monitoring and debugging purposes and are retained according to our hosting provider's standard retention policy.
Browser Information
Our Browser Test and User Agent tools detect information using standard Web APIs directly in your browser. This information is displayed to you only and is not transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Cookies
We use minimal cookies:
- Essential cookie — stores your theme preference and cookie consent choice. Required for basic site functionality.
- Consent cookie — records your cookie consent preferences.
We do not use tracking cookies by default. If we add analytics or advertising services in the future, we will update this policy and request your consent where required by applicable law.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services that may process data:
- ipapi.co — IP geolocation API (HTTPS). Used to provide IP lookup results. Subject to their Terms of Service.
- ipwho.is — IP geolocation API (HTTPS). Used as a fallback for IP geolocation.
- OpenStreetMap — Used to display approximate location maps via embedded iframes.
Advertising
We may display advertisements through Google AdSense or similar advertising services in the future. If advertising is enabled, third-party ad networks may use cookies and similar technologies to serve relevant ads. You will be able to control advertising cookies through our cookie consent mechanism.
When advertising is activated, the following will apply:
- Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ad Settings
Data Retention
We do not retain IP lookup results or browsing data. Server logs are retained per our hosting provider's standard policy (typically 30-90 days) and are used solely for security and debugging.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
